Casa Grande- Desert Shadows RV Resort

February 1 each year we meet up with friends Jerry and Edie from North Dakota. Here you see our two Holiday Rambler Ambassadors with Mike's jeep in between. We have traveled together for the last four years Feb. and March. We met them through Western Horizons, a membership we have for RV Resorts. Thus we winter in WH parks starting in Casa Grande Desert Shadows Park. We love this park because it has lots of activities going on which one can join in if one wishes to do so. Mike and I do the exercise every morning. We all went golfing at Grand Valley also.

Here Edie and I are at the Valentine supper prior to the dance. It is held at the club house. FUN! Jerry is across from Edie and Mike photogragher of course.

Mike and I signed up for the hiking group out of our park and headed to Sabino Canyon near Tucson. It was listed as moderate to difficult; 8 miles mostly straight up. About 23 of us went with a 79 and a couple of 76 year olds in the bunch. One of the 76ers made it to the top.

Last week we hiked with a group to the top of Casa Grande mountain with no trouble at all.

Near Tucson, AZ

Mike made it to the top but Mary Jo stopped 3/4 of the way up. She still saw beautiful sights.

Our new friends from Alberta, CA Donna and Herb went to the top with Mike.

At the end of the hike, Mike chose to put his feet into the cold river water to refresh. Coming back down was as much a challenge as going up!

On Saturday Mike left to have the jeep "lifted" 2 inches. Greg and Kevin transferred the "lift" from Greg's jeep to Mike's. Greg plans to lift his even higher now. Tis even more of a challenge for Mary Jo to get into the jeep daily now.

Now our two weeks are up at Desert Shadows so we head to So. CA with our first stop at Lake Tamerisk which is a resort enroute to our Indio WH park. A small golf course with mountains, palm trees and a lake make for a heavenly stay.
