Lake Tamarisk, Desert Center, CA

Lake Tamarisk RV Resort is a quiet resort on a small golf course. This is our fourth year to spend a week here. Jerry, our ND travel friend, has a cousin Elsie who has a park model home here in the So. CA area. We love coming and hate leaving. Mary Jo wants to buy a lot but then again she doesn't want to miss out on any of our other stops along the way. Yes, it is best for us to be on wheels at this stage of our lives: too much to see and enjoy!

Mike on bike ride.

Mary Jo pauses for a peaceful prayer of gratitude for this beautiful world we so thoroughly enjoy.

We like the road lined with palms by the golf course.

There is a walking path around the small lake that looks oh so blue when the sky is clear. The palms and mountain ranges in the distance make for a tranquil scene. We walk the paths and bike in the area daily. Golf is inexpensive so we golf every day and rent our cart for the week. It lives at our motor home site. Just about a perfect arrangement don't you think?

The park has a small town atmosphere and is very friendly. Folks are from as far away as MO but most are from Oregon and Washington with a few Canadians. The regulars who own property here come in October and stay until April although our friends from Oregon stay January to April.

Dave, Mike, Jerry and Paul make a foursome for men's day. Wednesday they joined about 55 men for fun and games on the golf course.

Mike and Jerry out for the morning.

Men's day at the golf course is not far from our RV. We have a golf cart for the week and enjoy using it daily traveling back and forth to the course.

Elsie is Jerry's cousin and our hostess with the most est!

Paul is Elsie's husband and our entertainment guide for the week: FUN. They generously share their home, food and selves with us during our stay. Paul wrote a song, played it on the guitar and sang it for Mike's birthday party in his honor.

Ode to Mike Roast:

Happy birthday to Mike, he just turned 63 (he missed that by 3 years)

And he thinks he's the luckiest man you ever did see.

He's been on a crazy crazy buyin spree

Since he got told all about Social Security.

He bought him a great big motor home on sale

It looks to us that it's bigger than a doggon whale.

How far is the social security check gonna go?

We just found out he's got a brand new jeep in toe!

Maybe he's gonna organize a safari spree

That might supplement his social security.

If that don't work he might have to trim the fat

We hope it don't come to havin to pass the hat!!

McGoo's is the local supermarket (of sorts). We are about 50 miles from shopping so this store is our source for everything. "If McGoo's doesn't have it; you don't need it" as the saying goes. After a good game of golf, McGoo's ice cream treat is a celebration. The local shopping adds to the "charm" of this area. See why we return each year? It is a unique, friendly, fun experience every time!

Yes, we will return next year to Lake Tamarisk, the good Lord willing!
